You may have noticed and wondered why some residents are walking the streets at dusk and night, peering into tree canopies .
We are helping collect data for the Powerful owl research project managed by Dr Beth Mott of Sydney Uni.
We have been following 1 or 2 owls who have been roosting and feeding in Betty Morrison Reserve for the past 24 months. There are no suitable trees for nesting in the reserve so if they are mating ( May – July) they are somewhere over on the Pittwater side of Barrenjoey road.
If you see any owl activity you can report it to us via our FOB email , or directly to the project . ( google it) .
